How We Contribute to the Circular Economy

Our Story

GTV started its journey in 2004, when a team of close family members and friends started purchasing and transporting defective vehicles directly from Europe’s largest used vehicle auction. Over the years, we have demonstrated that recycling and reusing car parts is not only beneficial but also a crucial step in protecting the environment.

Our Mission

o contribute to a sustainable environment by applying circular economy principles in the automotive sector. By recycling and giving a second life to car parts, we reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and lower CO2 emissions.

Reusing original parts prevents CO2 emissions that would otherwise be generated during the production of new parts or substitutes.

Today, our team consists of 150 employees, over 50% of whom have been with us for more than five years. Every year, we dismantle around 1,000 vehicles, returning about 85% of recycled parts to the market. This contributes to conserving natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions.

After dismantling a 2-ton car, we return 1 to 1.3 tons of metal to the market for reuse, protecting the earth from pollution and promoting a sustainable economy.

CO2 emission reduction in Lithuania

The automotive industry is one of the largest contributors to global pollution. It is critical to use as many recycled car parts as possible in vehicle repairs to promote the circular economy. By returning recycled parts to the market, GTV reduces CO2 emissions in Lithuania by an impressive 236,512 tons annually. By reusing metal and other parts, we contribute to reducing the greenhouse effect and preserving valuable natural resources.

Parts unsuitable for reuse are passed on for recycling or disposal.

Impact of Circular Economy

By adopting circular economy principles, light vehicle CO2 emissions could decrease by 70% (about 0.4 billion tons) by 2050, according to estimates by EthicalCorp.com.

Reusing parts significantly reduces CO2 emissions:

  • Electric vehicles:
    6.420 kg CO2 less per vehicle.
  • Gasoline vehicles:
    1.828 kg CO2 less per vehicle.
  • Diesel vehicles:
    1.880 kg CO2 less per vehicle.

The Benefits of Recycling

Life cycle assessments show that recycling car batteries, bodies, and engines results in up to 93 % fewer greenhouse gas emissions than manufacturing new parts. Using recycled materials in transportation manufacturing plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change.

Recycled Materials in Cars

BMW: 15% of plastic parts are made from recycled materials. Audi: 89% of textile upholstery is from recycled plastic. Ford: Since 2020, at least 20% recycled plastic is used in every car. Honda: Annually uses 2,800 tons of recycled textiles. Nissan: Since 2022, 30% of car mass is from recycled materials. Chevrolet: Uses recycled tires, PET bottles, carpets, and denim.
